In the first quarter of 2010, the sales of domestically-made passenger cars of foreign brands were won by the public. The next nine are: Generic, Hyundai, Toyota, Nissan, Honda, Citroen, Suzuki, Ford and Mitsubishi.

The first sales volume in the first quarter of 2009 was also Shanghai Volkswagen. GM and Hyundai compete in the second and third place and take turns in the top. Honda sales fell from fourth place in 2009 to sixth place in the first quarter.

Shanghai General Motors, the GM joint venture in China, has the highest sales, with sales of 235,300 units. The Buick Excelle 1.6 sold 54192 vehicles, which was the highest-selling model. Second, the Chevrolet Cruze 1.6, Accord 2.0 I-VTEC, Chevrolet Music Wind and the new LaCrosse 2.4 are the top-selling models in the first quarter of this year.

Volkswagen’s two joint ventures, Shanghai Volkswagen and FAW-Volkswagen, have amassed sales of 21.62 million units and 193,300 units respectively. Among them, Shanghai Volkswagen’s Santana Zhijun MT is the highest-selling model with sales of nearly 10,000 vehicles, an increase of 63.1% year-on-year. The sales of LaVida 1.6MT and Lattice 1.6AT were 24,000 units and 21,000 units, respectively, which was nearly double the growth rate of the previous year.

In addition, Shanghai Volkswagen Tiguan, which has attracted much attention, sold 40,45 vehicles from the time of listing to the first quarter sales statistics.

After a series of recalls, Toyota’s joint venture in China still performed well. In the first quarter of this year, sales volume reached 205,100 units, a year-on-year increase of 105.1%, and the growth rate ranked second. Among them, the sales volume of FAW Toyota is more than double that of GAC Toyota and the sales volume is 136,400.

The year-on-year growth rates of the Toyota RAV4C2.0AT and RAV4C2.4AT are as high as 12,243.5% and 12,061.7%, which are the main models to boost Toyota's sales in China.

Nissan sold 164,900 units in the first quarter, an increase of 69.65% year-on-year. Its Dongfeng Nissan joint venture in China completed sales of 162,600 vehicles. The Sylphy 1.6L sold 26,333 units, an increase of 49% from the same period of the previous year. The sales of the 1.6MT, the new Teana 2.0 and the Sylphy 2.0L were all above 200%.

Compared with the same period of 2009, Mitsubishi had a very good sales performance in the first quarter of this year, with a year-on-year growth of 240.64%, which boosted its high-growth growth.

The growth rates of Volkswagen, Hyundai, Nissan, Honda, Citroen, Suzuki, Ford and Volvo are all in the 40%-70% range.
