Hunan's high-tech industry increased by 30%

According to the latest statistics from the Hunan Provincial Bureau of Statistics, from January to August this year, the province’s industrial high-tech industry realized a value-added of 15.919 billion yuan, an increase of 29.2% year-on-year; after the balance of profits and losses, it achieved a profit of 3.317 billion yuan, a year-on-year increase of 67.9%. Among them, the pharmaceutical industry, electronics and communications equipment manufacturing and medical equipment and instrumentation manufacturing industry have the largest total volume, accounting for more than 90% of the added value of high-tech industries.

The Hunan Daily reported that high-tech industries refer to industries that use modern cutting-edge technologies to produce high-tech products, including electronics and microelectronics, aerospace, optical-mechanical integration, bio-engineering, new materials, new energy, environmental protection technologies, marine engineering, and pharmaceuticals. And medical engineering, fine chemicals and so on.

This year, the province's high-tech industry has been operating at a high rate of growth, with a slight increase in its proportion. From January to August, the added value of large-scale industrial high-tech industries in the province accounted for 4.4% of the total scale of the industry, and the proportion increased by 0.1% compared with the same period of last year; the high-tech industry realized the main business income of 51.819 billion yuan, accounting for 4.8% of the total scale of the industry. The proportion increased by 0.5% compared with the same period of last year; it increased by 51.5% year-on-year.

In Hunan, the three industries with the highest total amount of high-tech industries were pharmaceutical manufacturing, electronics and communications equipment manufacturing, and medical equipment and instrumentation manufacturing. They achieved added value of 6.597 billion yuan, 4.827 billion yuan, and 3.024 billion yuan respectively. The proportion of all high-tech industries was 42.0%, 30.7% and 19.2%, respectively. The three industries that have contributed the most to the growth of high-tech industries are electronics and communications equipment manufacturing, medical equipment and instrumentation manufacturing, and pharmaceutical manufacturing. The electronics and communications equipment manufacturing industry increased by 54.3% year-on-year, stimulating the growth of high-tech industries by 13.8%; the medical equipment and instrumentation manufacturing industry increased by 35.8%, stimulating growth by 6.3%; the pharmaceutical manufacturing industry increased by 12.5%, stimulating growth by 6.1 percentage points.
