Jiangsu 5 Million Users Install Remote Automatic Energy Meter

The reporter recently learned from the Jiangsu Provincial Electric Power Company that as of December 28, the province had 5 million users of power meters to achieve remote automatic collection, including 1.2 million new smart meter installed on-line operation.

According to Huang Qifeng, director of the Provincial Electric Power Corporation's Metrology and Management Division, the construction of electricity consumption information collection system is an important project for the development of smart electricity use by the State Grid Corporation of China, and is an important part of building a strong smart grid. The province plans to install power consumption information terminals and smart energy meters for more than 30 million users in the province from this year, and to renovate the unrepaired meter boxes.

This new set of remote electricity consumption information collection system is composed of metering energy meter, information collection terminal, communication network and control master station. Through advanced sensing and measurement technology equipment, the remote automatic acquisition of electricity information is realized. The problem of misreading, misprinting, missed copying, and incorrect meter reading due to manual transcripts was eliminated. Residents can conveniently query the power consumption at any time through the Internet.

It is estimated that when users actively select and optimize the use of electricity, they can reduce the peak load of more than 15% and the total demand of more than 10%.
