LED demand turned into lighting Taiwan will become the largest supply area

LED applications continue to rise, and the increase in demand in the lighting market not only makes LEDs grow strongly, but lighting has gradually become a major application. In 2010, LED backlight and lighting total revenue was 7.2 billion US dollars. DisplaySearch estimated that the usage in 2011 will grow 20% compared with 2010, and 2014 is expected to reach 12.7 billion US dollars.
The overall market demand for LEDs continues to increase, but the demand for LED backlights is gradually decreasing and is beginning to shift toward LED lighting applications. DisplaySearch senior analyst Liu Jingmin said. Due to the replacement of halogen lamps, LEDs have a high penetration rate in spotlight applications, and the government is also expected to lift the policy to accelerate the application of LEDs on street lamps. In the second quarter of 2011, LED lighting total revenue reached 3.2 billion US dollars, and is expected to rise rapidly to 3.4 billion US dollars in the third quarter. Suppliers are also aware of this trend and plan to increase production capacity. It is estimated that global LED production capacity will reach 180 billion in 2011 and 272 billion in 2013.
In LED backlight applications, in all small and medium-sized LCD products, the penetration rate of portable PCs is nearly 100, and the penetration rate of LCD monitors and LCD TVs continues to increase, but the number of LED packages is reduced. In 2011, the total demand for LED backlights was 45.9 billion. Since 2010, LCD TVs have become the main application of LED backlights, accounting for 50% of demand, and are expected to reach the highest value in 2012. But with the reduction in the number of LED packages, there will be a slight decline in TV demand in 2013.
At present, Japan is the world's largest LED bulb market, with a market share of 63, but will be reduced to 40 in 2014. Due to limited power resources and increased awareness of energy conservation, LEDs have a high penetration rate in Japanese lighting systems and will be the largest lighting market until 2014. In addition, after 2011, Taiwan will replace Japan as the largest supplier of LED; mainland China has also invested heavily in LED production in recent years, and it is also available in many applications. In the next few years, the market will develop substantially. In 2011, due to oversupply in the market, the price will drop sharply while the competition is fierce, which will further increase the penetration rate of the LED lighting market.
