The OM471 is an in-line 6-cylinder engine with a displacement of 12.8 liters. The EGR, SCR and DPF technologies can meet the latest emission standards in the United States and Japan. The requirements of the two standards for emissions can be described as harsh.

The fuel economy of this Euro 6 engine is at least equivalent to that of the current Euro 5 engine. However, the maintenance mileage has been increased to 150,000 kilometers and the service life has been increased by 20%.

According to foreign media speculation, the Euro 6 engine will first appear on the Axor model, and the Actros series will be assembled later in 2011. The Actros nowadays are equipped with V-type engines. If this engine is fitted, we will also usher in a brand new Actros series.
