RFID product selection and solutions

I. Overview Radio frequency identification (RFID) systems are an important part of emerging areas such as Internet of Things (IoT), cloud manufacturing, and cloud computing. Many Fortune 500 companies have used it in supply chain systems such as production and logistics. For example, retailer boss Wal-Mart, which requires all suppliers who supply goods for him, must use RFID technology. China's Internet of Things Association also uses sensor technology, radio frequency identification, and electronic tags as the basis of the Internet of Things. Some people even think that RFID represents the Internet of Things. How important this technology is.
To this end, this article from the RFID product introduction, application selection process, and finally the application solution, to provide readers with a general outline of RFID technology, to lay the foundation for the correct use of RFID products in the future.

Second, product overview RFID system includes three key components:
● Communication interface module: Connect to a network or controller.

● Security and access.

1. RFID Ethernet (EtherNet/IP) interface module

Description Ethernet (EtherNet/IP) interface modules are used to solve the problem of industrial networking applications requiring networking or multiple read/write readers. Its own LEDs can be used for quick diagnostics, observing module status, network status, I/O status, and power status.
Each interface module can connect up to two readers and two general purpose I/O devices. This makes it easy to integrate RFID systems into existing architectures. It also enables the RFID system to respond to sensor input signals in a timely manner, and vice versa. For example, when the sensor detects an object, it can send a signal to the reader to read the contents of the RFID tag.
The system can be flexibly configured and expanded. The reader can be mounted 91 meters (300 feet) from the interface module. The Ethernet port has an embedded switch built in, which can be used as a device in the device ring (DLR), so multiple interface modules can be connected. The topology can be star, tree, line, and ring. The RFID system complies with the ISO 15693 standard and is compatible with a wide range of styles and sizes of labels from different manufacturers.
Features ● Comply with ISO 15693 / ISO 18000-3 M1 standards.
● Closed enclosure, IP67 grade, saving the cost of the installation box.
● Low installation cost, using the industry standard M12 DC micro connector to connect Ethernet and auxiliary power, so it is easy to replace without rewiring. The I/O also uses a sealed M12 DC miniature style connector.
● Single or dual Ethernet ports, embedded Ethernet switches that support star, tree, line, and ring topologies.
● Isolated power output. Allows the output device to power down when power is supplied to the reader, input, and Ethernet connections.
● The output is electronically protected.
● Provide one or two channels of RFID connectivity.
● Can be configured as: two inputs / no output; or one input / one output.
● Compatible with all readers.

2. RFID Rectangular Reader

Description The Rectangular Reader is the largest reader in the Rockwell HF 13.56 MHz RFID family and measures 80 x 90 mm. The reader complies with the ISO 15693 standard and can read/write SLI and SL2 tags to support different styles of labels from different manufacturers. Its own LEDs can quickly diagnose module status and read/write status.
Rectangular readers are used in high speed/high performance applications because of their large sensing area. The reader can be mounted 91.4 meters (300 feet) from the interface module, and the label can be read at a distance of 168 mm (6.6 inches). The reader has an IP67 rated housing that withstands harsh industrial environments.
Features ● Comply with ISO 15693/ISO 18000-3 M1 standard.
● Read/write speeds up to 625 bytes/second.
● Built-in LEDs are available for diagnostics.
● Has reliable performance in harsh environments.

3. RFID square reader
Description Square reader for RFID systems with high frequency 13.56 MHz. The reader complies with the ISO 15693 standard, reads/writes SLI and SL2 tags, and supports different styles of labels from different manufacturers. Its own LEDs are used to quickly observe module status and read/write status.
The square reader has universal mounting capability and measures 40 x 40 mm. The distance between the reader and the interface module is 91.4 meters (300 feet) and the readable distance of the label is 85 mm (3.3 inches). The reader has an IP67 rated housing that withstands harsh industrial environments.
Features ● Comply with ISO 15693/ISO 18000-3 M1 standard.
● Read/write speeds up to 625 bytes/second.
● Built-in LEDs are available for diagnostics.
● Universal installation type.
● Reliability in harsh environments.

4. RFID tag
Describe industrial RFID systems that can withstand harsh industrial environments. The reusable Rislan? read/write tag enables it to repeatedly carry information in the application. ISO 15693 is an open standard for high frequency 13.56 MHz RFID. Labels come in a variety of styles and sizes to meet most application requirements.
Features ● Labels comply with the ISO 15693 standard.
● EEPROM/FRAM memory.
● 64 bytes, 128 bytes, 256 bytes and 2 K bytes of read/write tags.
