Bei Ben heavy trucks take a lightweight route to capture the market

When light weight becomes the trend of the times, “without being lightweight, the enterprise will not develop” and it will become the consensus of Beiben people. Beiben Company determined that by the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, the production capacity of heavy vehicles will reach 200,000. At 5 pm on May 3, 2012, Beiben Heavy Trucks Shen Chi 4S shop yard, a lightweight V3 tractor wrapped in red silk is ready to start. Sales staff told reporters that the vehicle was as large as the cab chassis, and as small as the hubcaps, all of which were lightly weighted. The company had hit the 12-ton chassis with the highest domestic tonnage of heavy trucks, which has now fallen to 10 tons.

After lightening, it will pull even more and consume less fuel. After mass market listing this year, it won many praises. The 150 cars in the store will be sold out.

From January to April of this year, the situation of the national heavy truck market is still not optimistic, but the more than 800 light weight V3s assigned to dealers around the country have won an early victory and the response is quite good.

"Heavy" is no longer the mainstream

Derived from the German Mercedes-Benz lineage, it can bear heavy loads, can be overloaded, and can adapt to harsh environments. It was once a common impression that Bei Ben heavy trucks left for people. However, this type of heavy truck image, which is like the hard work of the North Koreans, is no longer an advantage in today's market.

After the "Regulations on the Protection of Highway Safety" was formally implemented on July 1, 2011, measures to control over-loading and over-limitation in various places have become increasingly stringent. Overloading of heavy trucks has almost become an "impossible task." In addition, oil prices have steadily increased, eroding the profits of the transportation industry, not only restraining the demand for new vehicles, but also directly to the "car model conversion" proposition thrown to the heavy truck industry.

The answer soon became clear. Big horsepower, light weight, low fuel consumption, and economic efficiency have become the mainstream of market demand. Simply put, it is to lower the weight of the heavy truck and at the same time let it pull more. The key is "light."

When "light" became popular, Beiben heavy trucks once prided itself on the "heavy feeling" and it was difficult to gain market recognition.

The "lightweight" message was soon passed to the North through the "Marketing Department." The Department of Marketing was established in early 2010. Its core functions can be understood as “intelligence collection”. That is, the problems that users reflect are first concentrated on the marketing department, and then they communicate with the R&D department to solve the problem.

In March of this year, Bei Ben’s main leaders brought with them staff to visit Shanxi and Western markets. In Xiaoyi City, Shanxi, harvested positive information on the promising market for Beibei's new 8×4 lightweight dump trucks; after investigating the Bayannur City, the company decided to launch Beiben’s lightweight traction and dumping Warehouse carts...

According to statistics, sales of light-weight models in the first quarter accounted for more than 30% of the total sales of 9,500 units in Beiben.

900 kg from the "provincial"

After the market department had keenly captured the information, the R&D center followed up in a timely manner, and the “lightweight” horn blew up.

In the “lightweight” campaign, safety, efficiency, and low emissions have become the three criteria for Beiben’s new product development.

Beiben Research and Development Center official explained that the so-called safety, that is, in the lightweight process, the first consideration is the safety factor of the vehicle. Since the introduction of Mercedes-Benz technology in the 1990s, Beiben has continuously stopped the pace of independent research and development, and its localization of heavy trucks has increased. However, in the development of the brake system, they chose to cooperate with a strong German company. This move is to make the braking performance of domestic heavy trucks to a new level.

The so-called high efficiency, that is, continuously optimize the power transmission system of the heavy truck. The so-called low emissions, that is, before the implementation of the National V emission standards have not been fully prepared to prevent the emergence of market vacuum.

In 2010, Beiben R&D Center began to reduce weight for some models. The 6×4 chassis of the same industry in China has a total weight of 9 tons, the Beiben model weighs 9.2 tons, and its weight is reduced to 8.5 tons. After that, the R&D center continues to make efforts to reduce the weight to 8.3 tons by the end of last year, achieving the achievement of the model. The most "light" in the country.

From 9.2 tons to 8.3 tons, how to save 900 kilograms? In lighter research and development of tractors and dump trucks, beibei company not only reduced the weight of the chassis, but also visited users to investigate whether they were sensitive to certain functions of the vehicle, so as to simplify the internal and external decoration. In addition, the use of high-strength and non-metallic materials has also achieved a "light-weight" effect.

"Light" loaded into battle

Older models lose weight again, after all, they are just "without cotton jackets for singles." On the other hand, ongoing H09 replacement vehicle R&D projects will fundamentally reduce the weight of the “carcass” of heavy vehicles.

The H09 project is a series of road trucks for heavy truck platforms jointly developed by Bei Ben and foreign design companies. Through the optimization and matching of powertrain, braking, steering, vehicle and engine auxiliary systems and other serial modules of different costs, the project finally achieved a combination of 4×2, 6×2, 6×4 and 8×4 four drive types. The purpose of the series of tractors, trucks, dump trucks, these base cars can evolve into hundreds of different models. The project began in 2009. This year, basic vehicle development and small-batch listings have been completed and will be listed in large quantities next year.

The light weight V3 tractor developed on this platform is no longer a kilogram but is measured in “tons”. When it was unveiled at the Beijing auto show in April this year, it attracted the advantages of its weight reduction without degradation. Lots of attention.

When light weight becomes the trend of the times, “without being lightweight, the enterprise will not develop” and it will become the consensus of Beiben people. Beiben Company determined that by the end of the “Twelfth Five-Year Plan”, the production capacity of heavy vehicles will reach 200,000. In the related technology reserves, the company has completed the development of air suspension and rubber suspension technology, and the seamless frame technology developed for light weight is also available.

At the beginning of this century, after parting ways with Mercedes-Benz, Beiben succeeded in domestic production and succeeded in getting rid of the “expensive” gas on the price. In a short period of time, the sales volume spanned from a few thousand units to over 10,000 units. success. At the beginning of the second decade, Bei Ben started a second "downsizing," hoping to implement a "lightweight" sword and gain greater market share.
