German marine engine manufacturer MD&T is in trouble

According to the Danish "Copenhagen Post" report, the German marine engine manufacturer MANDiesel & Turbo (MD&T) is currently in trouble, mainly because Maersk and other shipping companies began to install cheap small engines for new ships. In order to save energy, new container ships are generally equipped with low-speed and relatively low-power engines, and the number of spare parts required is correspondingly reduced, thus affecting MD&T's business.

The company's latest annual report shows that the company's turnover in 2013 was 1 billion Danish kroner, a significant drop from the 2012 DKK 2.4 billion. MD&T is the world's leading supplier of marine equipment and is at the forefront of the large marine engine market with more than 2,000 employees in Denmark.
