The speed and scale of China's wind power market will remain very impressive

Vestas, the world’s largest wind turbine manufacturing company, and the National Grid Energy Research Institute jointly launched the “Comprehensive Strategy for Coordinated Development of Wind Power and Grid”. The research report believes that with the rapid growth of China's installed capacity of wind power and relatively concentrated development, the development of China's power grids and the operation of power systems are facing unprecedented challenges, and the promotion of coordinated development between wind power and the power grid is imminent. To solve the problem of large-scale wind power grid integration, comprehensive solutions including technology, management, and policies must be adopted.

In recent years, the development of new energy sources, including wind power, has become a common choice for all countries in the world to ensure energy supply security, respond to global climate change, and promote energy upgrades. It is also an important part of China's energy strategy adjustment. As of the end of 2010, China’s wind power installed a total of 44.73 million kilowatts, surpassing the United States to become the world's largest wind power installation, and the installed capacity of grid-connected wind power reached 29.58 million kilowatts, ranking second in the world. In addition, China plans to reach 138 GW of wind power capacity through wind power base construction by 2020. It can be seen from this that the speed and scale of China's wind power market will continue to be very impressive.

In order to grasp the development opportunities, Vestas has continuously increased its investment in the Chinese market. In 1986, the first batch of wind turbines were installed in Shandong and Hainan. A representative office was established in Beijing in 1999 and a global procurement center office was established in Shanghai in 2005. Since 2005, it has built a world-class production base in China and has established three manufacturing bases in Tianjin, Hohhot and Xuzhou. Among them, the plant in Tianjin is Vestas’ largest global integrated wind energy equipment manufacturing base. As the world leader in wind power technology, Vestas China President Tangalle said that Vestas is committed to working with China and promoting the development of the local wind energy industry by sharing knowledge, experience and skills.

To date, Vestas has invested more than 3.5 billion yuan in the Chinese market and has more than 3,100 Chinese employees. In October 2010, Vestas established a technology research and development center in China, marking the completion of its complete value chain in China including R&D, production, procurement, and sales. As of the end of June 2011, Vestas has installed more than 3,100 MW wind turbines in the Chinese market. Tangalle said that Vestas is very optimistic about the development of China's wind power market, and will increase the amount of procurement in China every year. At present, the localization of wind turbine production has exceeded 80%, and the future goal is 100%.
