In 1994, Zhang Lijun was sent to Japan for study for two years. At 11:00 am the day before departure, there was a noise outside and a person was found downstairs and stood bloody in the doorway. There was a car hitting another car that was repairing on the roadside. Falling out of control, the situation is very urgent. Zhang Lijun did not care for the cold weather. He only wore cotton sweaters and cotton-wool trousers. He went back to the wounded and rescued seven people. He finally stopped a car and paid the fare to the hospital. But because of saving people, Zhang Lijun also missed a good opportunity for this training.

On a patrol tour, Zhang Lijun saw a car accidentally turn over into the middle of the river. He also saw three people inside the vehicle from the outside. The car was slowly sinking. "If you do not save, these three people will certainly not die." At that time, the weather was cold, Zhang Lijun jumped down, with the help of others, opened the door to rescue the three people. "I have bad swimming skills. I swim 10 meters more. When I toured nearly 30 meters, I didn't know what to do."

Many rescued people sent thanks for money and things afterwards, but Zhang Lijun refused. "I don't save people for money, and people do nothing."
