When a megohm meter is working, it generates a high voltage, and the measuring object is an electrical device. Therefore, it must be used correctly, otherwise it will cause an accident to the person or equipment. Before use, you must first make the following preparations:
(1) Before the measurement, the power of the device under test must be cut off, and the device should be short-circuited to the ground. Never allow the device to be charged for measurement to ensure personal and equipment safety.
(2) For equipment that may induce high voltages, this possibility must be eliminated before measurements can be made.
(3) The surface of the measured object should be cleaned to reduce the contact resistance and ensure the correctness of the measurement results.
(4) Before the measurement, it is necessary to check whether the megohmmeter is in normal working condition, and mainly check the two points of “0†and “∞â€. That is shaking the handle, so that the motor reaches the rated speed, megohmmeter should be in the "0" position in the short circuit, open circuit should be in the "∞" position.
(5) The Megohmmeter shall be placed in a stable, firm place away from large external current conductors and external magnetic fields. After doing the above preparations, you can make measurements. When measuring, you must also pay attention to the correct wiring of the Megohmmeter, otherwise it will cause unnecessary errors or even errors.
Selection requirements and inspection before use
(1) The voltage rating of the meter should be selected according to the rated voltage of the electrical component under test. When measuring the insulation resistance of a thermal element embedded in a winding and other heating elements, a 250V insulation resistance meter should generally be used.
(2) Before use, check whether the table and its lead wires are normal. Short the two lead wires, shake the meter or turn on the meter power switch to enter the measurement state. The pointer of the meter is deflected to 0 or the digital indicator is 0. Then the two lead wires are disconnected for measurement. The indication value is ∞. Description normal.
Wiring and measurement
(1) When measuring a general electrical appliance such as a motor, the L terminal of the meter is connected to the device under test (such as a winding), and the E terminal is connected to the case; when measuring the cable, in addition to the above provisions, the G terminal of the instrument should also be The sheath of the cable under test is connected. When using a hand-type megohmmeter, the hand rotation speed should be about 120r/min, and the reading should be shaken until the indicated value is stable.
(2) After the measurement, remove the lead wires after discharge between the device under test (such as a winding) and the case with a conductor. Direct disconnection may be shocked by the stored charge.
